Talking Therapies

Jan Barfoot

I am a trauma-sensitive, psychodynamic and person-centred therapist with special interests in body awareness, mindfulness and nature connection. I work creatively and gently to reflect on present and past contexts and the ways our present experience is influenced by these. My hope is to support you as you come into deeper connection with yourself, building understanding of your inner and outer worlds, such that you can live your own life more fully and with aliveness. I work in-person, online or within nature with individuals or small groups.

As your counsellor I create a safe space for you to take the deepest of breathes and bare all – your deepest fears, issues, worries and thoughts. I will be there for you – to support you, motivate you, empower you in your healing, recovery, growth and transformation in the most gentle and elegant way you can. I work with a Psychodynamic perspective, integrated with a person-centred approach.

As your coach I can help you achieve your goals and maximise your potential in life. We can discuss what’s making you feel unhappy, unfulfilled, discomfort and what’s causing roadblocks whilst giving you a gentle nudge to make you feel supported, encouraged and motivated to attain greater fulfilment and alignment.

I am drawn to working with neurodiverse individuals, trauma survivors, and creating a place that men can be comfortable being vulnerable in. I endeavour to create a space of warmth, confidentiality, integrity, and inclusivity with all my clients.

I have a wealth of experience in working with self-awareness and wellbeing, including topics such as owning ‘shadow’, anger, and shame, particularly within the context of men’s groups, and through the lens of spirituality.

Stephen has a particular interest in pain management and hypnohealing.

Hypnosis is a state of mind related to deep relaxation, increased suggestibility and narrowed focus.  Hypnotherapy is when hypnosis is used for therapeutic purposes.  Hypnotherapy is a complimentary medicine in which the power of the mind is used to make changes and reach positive outcomes.

“I assist the client to enter a very relaxed state of hypnosis and then make positive suggestions that help the subconscious mind achieve desired goals.  Hypnotherapy can help people reach their goals in a number of different areas, such as; stopping smoking, overcoming fears, boosting mood, insomnia, pain management, stress management, weight management.”

Adrian uses an integrative approach but practises mostly psychodynamically, where the unconscious is made conscious through the exploration of emotions and our defences to them.
